Just a reminder to everyone with a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit - Virginia's reciprocity agreement with Delaware ends TODAY (12/7/13). You will no longer be allowed to carry concealed in Delaware with your Virginia permit. If you have your Utah non-resident permit, you may still carry in Delaware under that permit.

An idea that sounds good on the surface, but which state's general guidelines do you go by to get a concealed handgun permit that's recognized nationwide? Illinois? My preference is Arizona's, but I'll settle for Virginia's. Unfortunately a lot of states don't agree with those standards.

The House of Representatives has tried to pass a bill through congress multiple times, a year every year for a decade. The most recent House Bills are H.R.578 "Respecting States' Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2013" and H. R. 2959 "National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2013".

The gun-grabbing libtards will never let it happen though.

Virginia was back on the list in January, but removed later. So, with that in mind, and a trip to the beach planned, I sent this letter to the AG:

Mr Biden,

I am writing to determine the status of reciprocity for Virginia Concealed Handgun License holders. The AG web site for Delaware has indicated that Virginia residents may carry in Delaware in the past. The website also states:

However, as of today Delaware does not recognize the concealed deadly weapon licenses or permits issued by states other than those listed below, and these states do not recognize Delaware's concealed deadly weapons licenses as valid.

This seems to indicate that residents of states that recognize the Delaware Concealed Deadly Weapons permit would enjoy reciprocity when traveling through and in Delaware. However, Virginia has been removed from the list of states; I know Virginia was listed previously.

The Virginia State Police web site indicates that Delaware resident permits are recognized: http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_Reciprocity.shtm Hence, my confusion.

Will my Virginia permit be recognized by Delaware? My wife and I have booked a hotel in Delaware in August, and we’re both CHL holders. We would prefer to be able to carry when traveling in Delaware for our safety.

The AG will likely not reply. I've tried several time to talk to AG's and have been told that it would be a conflict of interest because they are the State's attorney. Every time they tell me to ask a lawyer. Such a pain.

Alas, with my wife's current patient load, a week rental is NOT in the books.
