Another No Knock injures a child

Heartbreaking Photo of Baby Boy Tells Story of Late-Night SWAT Raid Gone Horribly Wrong.

the police conducting a raid at 2am threw a flash bang grenade into the babies crib right in the face of the baby.

Video and article at the Link. What a sickening display of brute mentality.

It's the Parents fault: “There was no clothes, no toys, nothing to indicate that there was children present in the home,” Cornelia police Chief Rick Darby told WSB regarding the SWAT raid. “If there had been then we’d have done something different.”

Doesn't make sense to me anyways, the need to flash bang/no knock raid a home @ 2am for a street level purchase of dope. I despise these type of raids on citizens, & believe there are better ways to handle low level drug arrests. It's surprising that more people aren't killed in these type of raids, on both sides.

I missed this thread. This is getting ridiculous.

1. If you are going to serve a warrant of any sort, wouldn't it be smart to KNOW that they person of interest is home at the time.

2. If you are going to do a no knock sort of warrant (which I think should be outlawed entirely) wouldn't it be imperitive for "officer saftey" not to mention for innocents that might be in the house to KNOW who and what is in the house? Not just so you don't kill a kid, but also so that there are not three guys in machine guns in the back room waiting for the cops to show up. It was the police officers responsibility to KNOW who and what was in the house and to do proper surveillance. That they did not was absolute negligence on their part. These parents and their kids did not sneak in under cover of night. They were there and could have been known if someone had just done their due diligence.

3. If you throw an incendiary device you have a responsibility to know where it will end up. You also have a responsibility to deploy the weapon (and that is what it is) in the manner it is intended. Flash Bangs are meant to be rolled across a floor, not tossed in a window for precisely this reason. You do not shoot blindly into a room, you do not throw a grenade blindly into the room.

4. If by your own negligence as described above you injure an innocent. Then procedures be darned (I'd use another word) you pay for the medical care for the person. That does not make it right that they blew a childs face off because they could not take the time to do their job properly, but it means that perhaps just perhaps the injury can be tended to.
