After Elliot Roger's murder rampage in California on Friday night, some are trying to point the finger, all too predictably, at you and me and millions of other lawful gun owners, as if WE are to somehow responsible for the act of a madman. It’s like blaming Ford for a crash caused by a drunk driver.

Let’s look at some of the important facts in this horrific and nightmarish case:

1. The murderer was a 22-year-old male on psychotropic drugs and seeing mental health specialists (who would have thought?)
2. Over half of the people he murdered were stabbed to death (3) vs shot to death (2)
3. He used his extremely fast automobile as a weapon to grievously hurt pedestrians and bicyclists
4. In the manifesto he left behind, he stated that he planned to run people over, stab them, and shoot them, killing as many as he could
5. The rampage continued until good guys with guns - the police - showed up and used those guns to stop the Mr. Roger
6. Mr. Roger bought all of his guns, magazines, and ammunition legally. He had a background check for each gun and had no magazines that would hold more than 10 rounds

The mainstream media, true to their biased nature, ignores facts #2 and #3 and continues to only refer to the killing spree as a shooting and Mr. Roger as a “gunman,” instead of the less politically correct “madman” or “murderer."

Mr. Roger is the kind of psychopath that I frequently warn about. Once he has decided to kill you, no amount of begging, pleading, or reasoning will stop him. You are dead unless you are either extremely lucky or you are armed. Because of California’s restrictive gun laws, survivors of such an encounter while out in public fall pretty much into the first category.

In Mr. Roger's twisted mind, he was a god that had been slighted by women and was going to bring death to those women who had done so. (Luckily for those in one sorority house, they didn’t open the door when they heard loud banging on it.)

Here is a video of the father of one of the 4 men murdered by Mr. Roger. You can hear the sheer anguish Mr. Martinez is feeling and my heart goes out to him. But, rather than strike out at Mr. Roger, the person who murdered his son, or the mental-health system in California, Mr. Martinez instead strikes out at the NRA! In doing so, Mr. Martinez is ignoring the horrific crime scenes were 3 people were savagely stabbed to death and others mangled after having been run over by Mr. Roger’s car. Gun rights organizations are simply trying to protect people from monsters, like Mr. Roger, by allowing innocent citizens to defend themselves with a gun.

The intolerant, anti-liberty bigots will try to make this about guns, but we must keep reminding everyone of the facts listed in items 1-6, above. California has “universal background checks” and magazine capacity restrictions, but none of that made any difference in preventing this tragedy. We know that gun control simply doesn’t work and this is yet another horrific example.

More on the story here, including a blood-chilling video made by Mr. Roger just before the rampage:

And the gun haters, feeding on tragedies as they always do, pushing for more gun control (what, no knife control or car control?):

Bad thing about bringing up the restrictions that (predictably) failed to prevent this occurrence, is that the anti gun crowd views the universal background check, magazine capacity restrictions, etc., as a "compromise". What they really want is a complete ban.

They could reasonably be expected to counter with " Of course this failed; what's needed is a complete ban, our compromise with you people has caused this, etc., etc. "

Clearly, I would disagree with that argument, but it would be good to be prepared to counter it swiftly, should it come.

Right they want a complete ban on all firearms. Look at the moms group on how they claimed a victory on keeping guns from troops on post here in the U.S. Try to even ask them a reasonable question about who then they actually trust with firearms and you will be banned and comment will be gone! These people are absolute MORONS and have no clue to life and want to find anything to blame other than actual people themselves!
