1. ACTION ITEM: Sussex County Board of Supervisors Chairman to get public input this Wednesday, April 30, on new sound ordinance that eliminates shooting on Sundays!
****************************************************************
This Wednesday, April 30th, the Sussex County Board of Supervisors Chairman, Eric Fly, will take public input on a new sound ordinance that was passed back on April 17th.
Sussex County, in an effort to thwart Sunday hunting and to interfere with people target shooting on their own property on Sundays, has a new sound ordinance on the books. It makes it illegal to shoot a gun on Sundays between the hours of 12 AM to 10 PM if the sound can be heard in another person’s residence!
While the ordinance doesn’t affect currently permitted shooting ranges, such as the Airfield Shooting Club in Wakefield, it does do harm to gun owners who want to target shoot on their own property or hunt on Sundays.
Mr. Fly, the Courthouse District supervisor member, is going to have a public meeting on the noise ordinance TOMORROW NIGHT, Wednesday, April 30th, starting at 7 PM at the Sussex Courthouse. Mr. Fly is trying to understand how this ordinance is affecting gun owners in Sussex. If you live in Sussex and can attend, please do so and make sure that Mr. Fly fully understands the magnitude of the opposition to the ordinance.
If you live in Eric Fly’s district and you can’t make the meeting tomorrow, you can call him on his cell phone: 757-647-8190 or send him an email at: seamcorp@gmail.com

2. ACTION ITEM: Sussex County Board of Supervisors needs to hear from gun owners on May 15!
****************************************************************
If you are a hunter, a shooter, or a resident or lessee in Sussex, you need to show up at the next full Board of Supervisors meeting to make your voice heard.
The meeting is on Thursday, May 15, and you are encouraged to speak in opposition to the terrible sound ordinance and ask that it be repealed.
THE MEETING IS SCHEDULED TO BE HELD AT THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE AT 7 PM, BUT DUE TO THE NUMBER OF ANTICIPATED ATTENDEES, WILL LIKELY BE HELD AT SUSSEX CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL. I’ll let you know which location is chosen as the date gets closer.
It’s best if we can pack the meeting room. However, if you can’t attend, an email or telephone call still can go a long way. It is important that they hear from as many gun owners affected by the ordinance as possible. Even if you plan on being at the meeting, send an email or make a phone call to your Supervisor to make sure they know of your opposition to the ordinance.
