Hello everyone, Happy Easter to those celebrating, I have a quick question that I need help in finding. We are back here in Virginia once again to find a house, the last time was during the Marathon bombing, and I'm trying to find info on the rules for shooting on private property in the areas of Powhatan, Louisa and Amelia Court House. I have tried looking at each cities govt page but can't find anything and the state page doesn't really help me either. The properties are all about over 20 acres, but just want to make sure I don't move into an area that has some strange and oppressive rules like back in kommiemass. So for now that is really it, but I will need to find out who does the best trusts in this state for me to get some NFA items.
Thanks for any responses.
Charles.

You have to check with each county. Rules will vary when it comes to discharging a firearm.

That's what I miss about GA, the state has prevented locals from making gun laws so you don't have to learn the rules in all the jurisdictions you may visit.

Typically from what Ive seen, cities will not permit, counties typically do... however check with your county for verification (phone or person).
Long story short, we live in Roanoke County, just behind us is a field, where there is a singular house... Old German Baptist (AFAIK) live there, and primarily settled this whole area.
Anywho... The kid from the house behind us, was shooting his shotgun... The house next door, the police showed up. I went out to greet them also, out of curiosity.
Another anywho... The people that live next door to us were away and the mother's parents were babysitting the kids... THEY called because of shots fired.
The officer told them, there is no ordinance against discharging a firearm as long was it was done safely, and since no law was being broken there was nothing he could do. For them I guess, it was an educational contact.
On the flip side, try that in Roanoke City... Your likely going to get 2 hots and a cot.
