Southern Police Equipment in Midlothian

If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

Southern Police Equipment in Midlothian

Post by Mindflayer »

I put off writing this review for a while, but it needs to be done.

When I was in there, a young lady came in with her boyfriend (fiancee?). She had never fired a gun before, but was interested for self defense. The sales guy immediately pointed her to a revolver ("Less complex!") - but it was a snubnose. OK, strike one. He took it out of the case, didn't verify it was unloaded, and swept the couple, other customers, and me with it. Strike two. He then showed it had a laser, and jokingly said, "You don't even need to aim, just put the laser on what you want to shoot!" Strike three. THEN to top it off, he activated the laser on the boyfriend's chest. "Look, if he ever makes you angry..." That's when I left.

Yeah, they let go the only decent manager (Russ) they had for some time!

Before him, they had Tim Orrock for YEARS, and he left to go to DeGoffs, and now works for CSA...

Betwixt those two? LOTS of gun knowledge, and LEGAL Knowledge walk out that door!

I haven't bought a weapon from them since before Russ was let go.

Wow... that guy is lucky you didn't lay into him. I would have had to say something. I guess some sales people don't realize that there is a risk of some anti-2a person or any other jackass actually putting a round in a store inventory weapon. That's how people get killed and why outside ammo is not allowed in gun shows in VA. (though the sell ammo inside, which seems counter productive, but hey.)

Being a smart guy and encouraging someone to shoot someone for making them upset? Yea, that's brilliant.
