You guys are welcome to come down for sure. Range 82 is a "Members Only" range and I can only have one guest, which will be jdonovan.

The owner of the range will let potential new members use the range as a onetime trial to make a determination as to if they want to become members. I think its $17 per hour for the trial day. You also have to provide proof that you can legally own a weapon. Typically a Driver's License or Photo ID and a CHP does the trick, otherwise its a background check.

I have not owned any AAC stuff yet, but what I have laid hands on looks like some serious craftsmanship. I am going to found a Arsenal Trust in March. The first item I plan on buying once its done is a AAC M4-2000 for my M4 and I am really leaning toward their 300 Blackout Pistol to register as a SBR.

If you want to maximize utility, start with a .308 rifle rated can.

5.56 is NEVER going to be quiet, as the projectile is supersonic, and subsonic 55gr 5.56x45 is a waste... just run a 40-60gr .22LR, same energy, much less noise, much smaller lighter platform.

That 308 can will cover your M4's your AR-10's your precision bolt guns etc... Its a great utility player. Kinda like getting a 45-cal can for the pistols. Once you decide if you're hooked on suppressors you can diversify, and more single purpose cans.

I agree that you should just go with a 308 can that you can use cross platform. I went with the AAC SDN-6 but there are so many good 308 cans out there right now.

Regarding your SBR, you just register the lower, and then you can slap any upper onto of that. So you would build a 5.56 lower, register it as an SBR, and then you can put a 5.56 or 300blk upper on it that is less than 16".

When ready to buy your can, go with a dealer that is currently on ATF eForms… it's the difference between waiting only 3-4 months and a year. As far as your SBR, you can actually submit your Form1 directly through eForms. Got mine back in 90 days.
