Got My Tac Lite/Laser From All-In Tactical Today!

Post by MarcSpaz »

Hey guys... got a new toy. After having terrible luck getting laser I could use to co-witness my rifles, Rick recommended I try the SIG STL-900 which is a Tac Light / Laser combo. I love Sig products, needed a tac light for my pistol and M4 and I know Rick wont steer us wrong... so I gave it a shot.

I have to say, I am really happy. The price was less than anywhere else I looked. Got free shipping. It came in the mail today. It was packed good enough that even FedEx couldn't break it! (JK FedEx guys).

This unit seems outstanding. Feels very rugged. This thing is compact enough and tough enough that I can use this on my P226 Pistol, my M4 or my SASS. It has a no-tool quick release mount, 130 L light with momentary on / on / strobe and a red laser pointer. The laser was working great tonight at just 10 degrees outside. It also uses a slotted turret head so you can use a flat head screwdriver or a sighting adjustment tool to adjust the laser.

Great service from All-In Tactical and what is starting out to look like a good and versatile product. I'm pretty happy so far. Can't wait to put some rounds through my .40 and my M4 to see how it holds up.

Anyone looking for something like this, I would definitely recommend getting this from All-In.

This Tac Light /Laser did really well. I put two hundred rounds through my 40 with this mounted and 150 rounds through my M4 with it mounted.

From 7 to 25 yards it was perfect. Zero did not move. At 50 yards, you basically reached the max range of the red laser with bright ambient light or light equivalent to dusk/dawn. At 50 yards, it was still rock steady.

No flickering or performance issues with the flashlight either. With it being day time, once I left the 7 yard shoot point, I couldn't see it against the target, but I left it running the whole time for a shock test.

Only problem... the thread on the quick release assembly stripped under recoil of the first 5 shots of the 40, which I shot first. I used a nut and bolt to mount it back on since the QD was broken.

Also having problems finding a holster that the unit fits in. I may make a custom IWB and OWB some time in the coming weeks.

Upside... even after hitting the floor from being thrown from the pistol, the zero was still dead on for the laser. I didn't have to re-zero it once I remounted it.

I'm, going to call Sig tomorrow to see if they will send me a replacement QD for it. The nut and bolt thing is kind of irritating me... but overall I am pretty happy.

Sig is awesome. Instead of me having to ship the TAC light to them for repair... they have agreed to ship me just the part that is broken at no charge so I can continue to use it rather than go without it while waiting for the repair.

I have returned to "full happy." LOL

Thank Sir.

I am likely going to order another one in the next 20 days or so. I want to keep one full-time on my AR and one full-time on my pistol instead of swapping the one back and forth.

great write up! Thanks for taking the time. I am curious how the QD stripped, since the QD is putting a clamping pressure perpendicular to the recoil force? I'm slightly concerned as a 40 is snappy, but nothing compared to 00 buck.

Honest, I think the threaded piece of the clamp that the recoil bar bolts into was not cut correctly to begin with. It seems like very soft aluminum. The threading on the recoil bar are fine, but the thread was pulled out of the clap block itself.

It seemed like it very snug almost like it was cross threaded when I fits installed it. There are two guide hole that prevent the recoil bar from moving in any direction, so I know it was not a bolt alignment issue. I assumed it was supposed to be snug to stop it from vibrating loose, since the QD is a spin tight, not a lever clamp tight.

Since the recoil bar is steel and the clamp block is aluminum and there was obviously something wrong from the start, I guess it didn't take much for the clamp to pop.

For those who are interested... Sig sent my parts. I am happy as can be. They only manufacture this stuff in batches, so I had a short wait. Considering the unit was still usable, I am fine with that. The new block is very obviously machined much better. I am guessing that the bad part was a fluke, especially given all of the other Sig items I've owned.

Hey Rick... any chance you have another STL-900 I can buy from you either Friday or Monday?
