Remington Arms Moves 1000's of Jobs Away From NY/CUOMO

Post by allingeneral »

Remington Arms has announced an expansion plan into Alabama that will create 2,000 jobs in the state, while simultaneously reducing the workforce in their current Ilion, NY home, and Governor Cuomo’s SAFE Act was a catalyst in making it happen.

The report states that Remington began its review of new locations after passage of the SAFE Act which banned magazines containing more than seven rounds, and reclassified the Bushmaster – a Remington product – as an “assault weapon.”

Smart move. Seems like it may be the only thing to do. Does the Safe Act exclude the manufacture of? Haven't read the whole thing, but I would guess the answer is no. Even if it is yes, why stay in a hostile location?

Went to college in the Mohawk Valley (where they're located), it's basically an economic wasteland.

I remember continuously encountering roads that went nowhere; the state would "make" jobs by having roads built in the middle of nowhere while the roads in the towns looked like something from a warzone.

When you get down to it I don't think jobs are welcome in NY; the economic independence a stable paycheck provides frightens the powers that be there, hence the push to make it as unfriendly as possible.
