Escaping from LA Moving to Northern VA

Post by jmax »

We will be moving to NOVA from SOCAL in May or June. Things are much quieter and more civilized than on Calguns that is at times like a pack of rabid doges but then again we have Gov Moonbeam and a legislature working overtime to screw us. We are looking forward to living a less stressful existence when we escape the LA area.

I think you will really enjoy it here. Keep an ear to the ground through sites like this. I'm sure you will see/read things that show the area in a good light.

See you soon!

Mental note depending on where in NOVA you will be: if people wave to you, wave back. Much different than the streets of SOCAL.
If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom.

Nova has the same sentiment towards guns that socal does... It's just colder lol.

We have visited a few times and the fact that I can own Title firearms is a huge bonus. Additionally as a former LEO I cannot get a CCW in CA as I have no clout. It is not the same in NOVA as SOCAL and we are looking forward to the move. As a side note there are only 3 gun shops and one w/ and indoor range for a million + residents so it is way different.

I think its crazy that you can be trusted on the job all day every day, yet as soon as you punch the clock, you somehow become untrustworthy. Just stupidity from the left.

In fact, even as an out of state retired LEO... depending on your retirement status, you may not even be required to obtain a concealed handgun permit to carry a concealed handgun in VA.

Check out the sections of the VA Code that talk about reciprocity and complying with the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004.

http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504 ... d+18.2-308

Color me crazy... but it appears to me you have more rights as a non-citizen gun owner in VA than you do as a citizen, Ret. LEO in your current state of residence. Yet, the politicians in CA think they are doing the right thing by denying you your constitutional rights.

Sorry... I'm ranting again. LOL

I believe the CA state motto is "I am from the government and here to help you"

Welcome jmax. I too am an escapee from LA. Lived on the West End at Sepulveda and Palms Ave right next to the 405/10 interchange. :welcome:

Oh, and yeah.. its quieter and less rabid here than on Calguns, but you are correct... gun owners are hunted in CA and thus they HAVE to be a bit rabid in thier own defense. I hope you didnt take it personally :)

I did not take it personally and am working to get to VA as soon as possible. We have to be rabid to deal with the government as they are dedicated to disarming the honest population.
