Mutual Aid groups?

Post by docapos »

Sorry if I missed it somewhere but a few limited searches didn't turn anything up.

Does this forum or any local organizations have a "mutual aid group" set up? To be exact I'm not looking for a militia but a breakdown of local areas for assistance of a on call/as possible nature. Other states i lived in have had such groups that collect socially every once in a while but have a standing phone/radio/contact list for disasters and are usually broken down roughly along the FEMA zones.

Hmm. Interesting idea. I'm not aware of anything like that, though.

That's an interesting premise. I know we have a strong (thought "silent")LDS contingent in the Central VA area.

I know that local "outdoors social circles" break into that a bit.

Otherwise, that's something new.

Huh well I'm new to the state and the area so if anyone with a stronger background here would like to run with the idea feel free. I would be more than happy to put out some more info and help with the process.

More often than not the MAGs are concerned about OPSEC and don't advertise a lot on public forums. Normally folks want to know the people they work closely with.

The only group of this type that I'm aware of [and apparently exists in VA] is "Americans Networking To Survive" (ANTS).

yep.

I'm not going to roll out in the middle of the night for just anyone. Need to have some contacts before the needs, and establish some relationships before we call on each other.

Better some people who you have limited contact with (VGOF) than complete strangers from your town.
