Lic required on private property?

Post by JustinCase »

A guy at work was inviting me to go hunting on there private property, when I told him I didnt have my hunting licences he said it was no problem.

Now, I am not an expert on the topic, nor can I easily read what the hunting laws are in that neat little Virginia book and understand what the hell I just read, but I got a feeling... Im supposed to have a licences.

Feedback is appreciated.

the land owner and some family members can hunt with out a licence on their own property, but others need a license.

In this case you need a base license, and what ever add-ons for the season/animal (big game, archery etc....)

Thats exactly what I thought! So if I go hunting on there property and get snagged, it wont end well.

Ill pass on the invite until I can get proper papers.

Thanks much!

On your own land, are seasons and limits enforced?

And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!

the only thing exempted is the need for a license. All other rules/regulations apply.

Yea, was kind of wondering about that. Rabbits tend to get into my Wife's garden and make messes of things. Foxes nosing around the hen house every now and again, as well as coyotes. Racoon, possum, too. No hunting on Sunday means nuisance or animal protection only. We don't raise ducks or geese anymore, soo... kinda wondering if ducks, geese, and dove are gtg on private property, too, without the stamps and HIP.

Don't pass on the invite, just get down to Walmart and buy your licenses.

Im pretty sure I need my hunter safety first, its been 15 years since I last went hunting.

I want to take daughter too, and I *know* she needs hunter safety.

I figured it would be cool if we just took it together...

You can do an apprentice hunting license. Good for 2 years, restriction is you have to be hunting with your 'guide/mentor' and in close proximity.

Still need hunter safety before you can go out on your own but its a solution to get out this year if you want to.
