Anyone Like to Write Articles?
I've noticed that some forums have a section where members can write and post articles about various subjects. VGOF, of course, would be guns and related issues like laws, shooting, reloading, hunting, safety, gear, defense, politics, etc.
Anyone like to write? How do you feel about having a forum where we could do that and then have comments from other members? It could be like a knowledge base or a FAQ. A side benefit might be that you end up with something polished enough to perhaps get published in a magazine or journal.
Just a thought.

I like this idea. I hope there are others who might be interested. If so, I'll make it happen.

I could see myself contributing op-ed type pieces. A word of warning though, I can be abrasive to those who don't share my viewpoints...

Re: Anyone Like to Write Articles?
I wonder if we should just place articles in the most appropriate forum area and preface the post title with " [Article] ". For instance, if I write an article about a particular rifle, I would add that article to the Rifles forum and title it as such:
[Article] How to care for your Ruger 10/22
Or if discussing Virginia firearm laws, I would post in the "Virginia Laws and Regulations" forum and title my post: [Article] The use of deadly force in Virginia
I think that might be better than actually creating a separate forum for articles/op ed pieces.
What do you think?

Re: Anyone Like to Write Articles?
So it would just be an amendment to the rules that says "If posting an article or opinion piece please at [Article] the the front of the thread title"? One thing, most things have a place they can go like firearm reviews, opinions on law, but where would a piece just stating just an opinion like "[Article] Flaws in the Today's Legal System" go? General Discussion? I suppose most would be able to go into a current subtopic but there is always that person that can think up an article that isn't currently defined.

I'd have to say that anything that doesn't have a specific forum topic would fall under General Discussion. However, I'm certainly open to suggestions regarding how to best implement this "Feature".

Re: Anyone Like to Write Articles?
That was all I wanted to clarify. I would love to see this implemented and would probably use it as a way to test some of my papers I write in school right now as well as some of the little things that pop into my head that turn into 6 page montages.
Re: Anyone Like to Write Articles?
Start with the [Article] tag system and see how it flys....if there's enough interest and enough contributions, it may well be worth it's own section. Just my $0.02

Re: Anyone Like to Write Articles?
Well, I was hoping to see a separate section so we could organize it and use as a knowledge base. Oh well. We'll take what we can get. IMO if its a clearly marked separate section folks will see it and be more inclined to use or contribute. Just my $0.02.
