After having read this thread:
http://vagunforum.net/general-discussio ... 19997.html
I suddenly got to brain storming. It seems there may be a base here to be able to work with.
I am just kicking the idea out here, but would anyone be interested in a monthly meeting in person to discuss a game plan and work on how we might help push our agenda, within VCDL/NRA/GOA/etc? I mean, we all have interest in 2A, and wish to protect it. It seems to me the largest organization by far, NRA, cannot carry this game for us in their home state.
Any chance we might meet and discuss? Maybe we could meet at a rented hall or somewhere?
I am leaving this really open, as I do believe others may have ideas of what we should do, and we could all listen to each other, come up with a game plan, and enact it ourselves?
Anyway, a part of me believes I won't get any serious interest here, but I have to ask to see if there is actual interest. Who knows we could become quite a force for the constitution and for good! God knows we have tons of allies out there (Sheriffs (save fairfax), oathkeepers, NRA/GOA/VCDL, and all the other constitutionalists).
Let me know, if there's enough interest, I'd be willing to set up something, or someone else can, if its decided I am in competent!

IMHO it would be better to channel our energy into one of the existing organizations. Just looking at the badges at the bottom of your post, there are already five different pro-gun groups, and it might be better to make a commitment to help one of them out. If we got together like you proposed, we'd probably just commiserate and brainstorm, but in the end, if we didn't have leadership, direction, and political knowledge, we wouldn't accomplish anything positive. From my vantage point, it seems like VCDL does an excellent job, and they could probably use our help. I remember when they were NVCDL, and helped change the CCW laws in 1995, and since then they have been making slow and steady progress. As I said in another post, when Kaine was governor, our progress stalled a bit, but we didn't go backwards, and let's hope that we can at least repeat that over the next four years until TM is gone. So after this defeat, my plan is to maybe help an existing organization out. Or, I'm going to think about the advice that one of the more level-headed people gave in the midst of the Sarvis vs KC debate - if I don't like the direction that the R party is going, get involved and see if I can make change from within.

I'm all for VCDL, but my thought was to get the thoughts of everyone on who to join up with. We've obviously got problems with committing on other organizations schedules, but if we developed times we could do things, we could then ask them to show us where to direct efforts.
For example, if we were all available at some time on saturday, but at different times and places, could we use this disparate locations to do a mass flyer campaign for VCDL? Just one way we could turn our separate isolated lives into something positive.
Plus, commiserating isnt so bad, and we instantly network in a real way.
Anyway, still open to thoughts.

I am all for this, but the logistics of it might be difficult. I want to support VCDL in a big big way as I see that they are one of our huge allies in fact more than an ally they are our best friend here in this time and place. We need to regroup and get better at getting our vote out and showing the leftist for the anti-liberty socialists they are.

VA is a big state and those of us who aren't retired are often bogged down with work and family.
Your best bet is think local (wherever that is for you).
I'm mulling my own local options, though some aspects of the Roanoke Tea Party appeal to me while others repel me. Not sure what that leaves per se.
Revernddel once suggested joining your local GOP shindig, but I have a feeling their days are getting shorter and shorter on the national level and possibly even the state level now so I'd rather not hitch myself to a dying horse and all.

I am so done with the GOP. They stuck a knife in our backs (again). IF they nominate a candidate that happens to be 80% acceptable to me including my three non negotiable I will support that candidate. However it will be a cold day in hades before they get another direct cent of mine.

I just posted a thread from the VCDL-PAC that you might want to read and consider. I have already been donating to the PAC and I am looking to increase my donation as I know that the money donated is going to a cause that I support. One box of ammo worth of a donation is not that much to ask in my opinion. Please read this thread and contribute what you can, and look at this as a way that you can make a difference in the 2014 election.

I was registered as an Independent in NY but I largely voted R until 2006 when Dubya disgusted me out of the habit, since then I kind of vote as freedom/prosperity oriented as possible barring a protest vote for Obama in 2008 (couldn't bring myself to vote for McCain so I voted for Obama out of spite).mamabearCali wrote:I am so done with the GOP. This last race was my first straight R since 2006 and as revelations come out about how the RNC and state level GOP kind of threw this entire R ticket under the bus gotta say I'm not too keen on them still.

Next time I get a phone call from the republican national committee bumming for money (of which I have customarily given them a token amount) I plan to tell them Hell No - - - and explain why. Of course, that will accomplish nothing except giving me a chance to vent. The kid working the phones will just say, "another ass", cross me off the list, and make the next call. But I WILL make myself heard with 2-3 state and federal legislators that I know personally. Probably just get called an ass by a bigger shot.
