Makes a person sick a little. It is like looking at a x-ray of stage 4 cancer. That those few areas could cause such havoc to the rest of the state. UGH.

Re: Virginia election results by county
Why is it that the cities, even in the dark red counties went for McAwful? I understand Harrisonburg - too many idealistic (ignorant) students and liberal professors, but why Staunton? And what's with Nelson, Prince Edward and Montgomery Counties? They're supposed to be rural red counties.
The problem as I see it is re-districting. No other way that the urban areas can over-ride and dictate which way the rest of the state goes. We effectively don't get a vote when this happens. Yeah, I know, put up a better candidate. While that may be part of the problem, it is a small part. It just ain't right that the come-heres have that much say over the rest of us.

Montgomery County contains Va Tech and probably a lot of Radford U. students and professors, doesn't it?

VA Tech is why we didn't move to Montgomery county (I was attracted to the cooler summer weather and good fishing of the New River valley).
Good thing too; it turned out their schools were grossly mismanaged and underfunded.
Roanoke county is solid red at least and our board of supervisors got a lot redder on election day. Will be interesting how that plays out.
The state results remind me of NY so much; one area dominates the rest of the state.

Fauquier, dark red, bordering bluelandia. The front lines.
I think I know why - Fauquier is beyond the commuting distance a Prius will go on a single charge.
Ok - just kidding folks. I would be glad to drive a Prius if I could get in one.

Look at the national map and you'll see the blue areas ar all centered around institutions of higher brainwashing.

My city tilted Cooch by a whopping 72 votes. I'm actually surprised, lots of 'educators' in this town. At least the surrounding county was solid red.
Best news locally was a big-time LIB running for a seat in the General Assembly as a stealth Independent, who got destroyed by the local Tea Party candidate. Also, a strongly Constitutional Sheriff beat out his Lib opponent.

Re: Virginia election results by county
A bit of analysis:
2221100 Total votes in Virginia
Cuccinelli 1,010,335
McAwful 1,065,205
Sarvis 145,560
301284 Fairfax County votes
7153 Fairfax City votes
Fairfax Total: 308,437 (13.9% of total Virginia vote)
Compare to my county - King George, which had 6,654 votes (0.2% of total Virginia vote)
There were enough Democrap votes cast in Fairfax County/City alone (180,076) to counter 17.8% of Cuccinelli votes in the entire state!

wow.....that is incredible. Until those who live in that bubble feel the consequences of their decisions (aka financial pain) they will keep on swaying the state. Like I said....it is like looking at a dear relatives 4th stage cancer scan.

Re: Virginia election results by county
Oh, by the way - the median household income, you ask?
Fairfax County: $108,439
Fairfax City: $99,300
Unemployment rate, you may wonder?
Fairfax County: 4.1%
Fairfax City: 6.3%
Living "High on the hog", I would say!

Go Floyd - 58% Cuccinelli.

Can we give Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William to Maryland?
Just a thought!

Hmmmm...... You just caused a seductively vengeful notion to crawl out of my subconscious and into my forebrain. We all need to pressure our legislators to form coalitions with other legislators from RED areas to vote counter to any measure that benefits Fairfax City and County on every occasion that they can do so without damaging the interests of their own constituencies. I know that probably won't work all the time because the bastards have so many Delegates now, but I sure wish there was a workable way the Delegates and people from the RED areas could at least on a few significant issues and/or occasions form a coalition to punish the voters from Fairfax for their stupidity. After all, by dominating the elections like they did this time, that is EXACTLY what they are doing to us day in and day out; punishing US for THEIR stupidity.

Re: Virginia election results by county
Makes me wonder about the many people I see at the LGSs in PW county. There's more than just a handful. I see the occasional NoVA newbie on the forums here but way less activity than I expected.
Is there any way to reach out to the like minded NoVA eople here on VGOF? We're the ones in the trenches trying to beat back the blue horde and it would be helpful to know who is out there.
