Ammo for the US vs. UK discussion

Post by AlanM »

UK Visits US Gun Passion
Not long ago, I was approached by a man and woman from the UK who wanted some training and the chance to shoot guns. They were in the United States on vacation and one of the items on their vacation list was to find a certified instructor and have the once in a lifetime chance to “experience what it’s like to be American for a few hours with the legal right to shoot rifles and guns.”

They told me that in the UK, they could not own guns and they really did not understand this “passion” Americans had for firearms and shooting since, (in their words) “guns are dangerous tools of violence and kill people.”

Oh, and if someone says "The UK has much less crime than the US." refer to this:
(I can't really find one really definitive paragraph to quote. You'll have to read it.
Basically, UK LEOs are given bonuses for low crime rate stats so the stats are massaged to the point of flat out lying.)

^^^Not only that, read the actual numbers from the home office and you will see they have more violent crime (I dont care if I am shot with a gun, or hit with an axe, or stabbed with a knife, or beat with a bat, its all horrible).

amidst the noise on youtube did a video examining these numbers, it is not what it appears.

There is a middle age couple that live nearby that moved here from the UK. We had a yard sale and they stopped by to look and talk.

One reason they moved here was the crime back in the UK, and their inability to legally defend themselves there. I'm not certain what they own now as far as firearms but they were emphatic about their right to defend themselves and to legally own the means to do so.
