Rifle sight in distance

Needing a diversion from the election and gettin something gun related posted: What distances do you sight yor rifle at? Certainly it will be different for different purposes, so..

Hunting (100 yards?)
Plinking (25?)
SD (25, 30?)
Other category?

And why, pro/con, etc?

I always sight for the peak to meet the sight, and memorize that distance, regardless. If I know my rifle's peak will be at 150 yards, and I know the distance I am at (or estimate it), I can reasonably estimate how high to shoot (obviously within reason). In addition, it stops me from having to think about whether I need to shoot high or low for any given distance.

That said, I am often playing with my plinkers setups, so I usually have the sighted for the plinking range (25 yards). I find it happens too often to sight in at a fixed distance, as I usually change it around and move the scopes/reticles.

I sight in most center fire rifles for a 3" point blank range, and then work out a dope card for other ranges. Then I sight it in based on the distance I have available.

The .22's are mostly 25, or 50 yd zeros depending on their use.

The long range stuff gets a 100yd zero, and a dope card. Though most of them are on 20-30 moa bases so 100 is about a low as the sights will go.
