Anyone shoot 460 Rowland?

Post by TallEd »

I just got my 460 Rowland conversion kit for my Sig 1911 and will be installing it this weekend. Does anyone here have one? I am getting ready to stock up on ammo for it and am looking for recommendations for both defensive and hunting loads. What do you prefer and why?

Currently I am looking for commercially available ammo. I do plan on keeping the brass and reloading in the future, so I would appreciate advice on either.

No, but I've looked into it. What are you curious about?

Just looking for experience with different loads and preferences. I see everything from 150-265 grain bullets. I see muzzle velocity/energy for most loads, but no data over distances, or penetration data. I am trying to pick the best ammo for a couple different purposes.

I got a good deal on 185 grain jacketed/bonded hollow points 1500 fps. 500 for $205 from Gemini Defense. I am planning to order more from American Custom Ammo as soon as I decide what loads I want. Once I start stocking up on brass i can try my own loads... I was wondering if anyone had already done that, that could save me some time... or which commercially available ammo was best in the meantime...
