Bought me another rifle

Post by thekinetic »

Well after many years I bought me another black powder muzzle loader! It's a springfield hawken model, with a wood stock and brass accents. I got it from dawson's in woodbridge because I just happen to be there and I saw it. Glad I got it from there too as one of the knowledgable guys told me my old CVA is not so far gone as to be unfirable, it just needs some heavy cleaning. So not only did I buy one but am now able to get my old one back! :D

Unfortunatly I can't post picture as my camera doesn't work too well. :(

Yes indeed it does look exactly like one of those. I'm not too sure where to shoot but probably either clark's brothers or phelps' range.

Sidelocks ROCK!

There is just something about setting the weapon off, and a BIG BOOM with a puff of smoke!

Granted...cleaning is a mother... but it's kinda worth it!

Congrats Brotha Kinetic!

Bull Run Muzzle Loaders club shoots the third Sunday morning of every month at the Izaak Walton League range in Centreville. Match runs from 8AM to 12PM and is open to everyone. You don't have to be an IWL member to shoot. There is no match this month (April- Easter Sunday falls on the same day and the range is closed). May will be the next match. Muzzle loaders only for those 4 hours.

Is it a .50 or .54? Percussion or flint?

My wife bought me a .50 cal Hawkins in a kit 3 years ago and it took me a year to get it built the way I wanted it, but it was worth the wait. I christened it on a nice 6-point that season.

You will have a blast with it and I hope you shoot it till your shoulder hurts.
