Remington 700 v. Savage Axis (Both .308 win)

So I'm finally getting around to getting my long gun and was wondering what the real difference between a Remington 700 and a Savage Axis (Both would be chambered to .308 win) other then the price. I'm kinda drawn between the 2 at the moment so anything info you can spare on them would be great. Thanks in advance!

Remington...Nothing else needs to be said. I don't think you can go wrong with anything Remington. NOW I need to admit that I have also been looking at The Savage Axis in .223 Stainless Steel.I'm choosing the .223 because I have been hoarding ammo for several years . I was impressed with how smooth the bolt felt and the balance also felt great. The price difference can be a big factor too. Also check out The Ruger American...I bought a 30.06 last month and am very pleased.
I think any of the three will be a good choice...Let us know what you Choose !

I have them both and love them both, I use the Savage for my hunting rifle and use my 700 AAC-SD for long range shooting as it is pretty heavy humping around the woods. Both are fine rifles and tack drivers and will serve you well.

Doesn't the savage have the accu-trigger? I thought I heard people were really impressed by that trigger.

The axis does not have it but the 110 and 111 comes with it. I had a Savage 110 in 30.06 and that was a great rifle and killed a whole lot of deer.

Hey Mike where are you located? if you are close I will let you shoot both of them in .308 if you haven't already. I am in NOVA (Woodbridge) but don't mind a little drive.

I'm moving over to triangle on wend hope that's close enough. I haven't even gotten up there yet and your much nicer then well all of south Florida. Here you have to be really close friends or blood for some one to even let you look at it but sadly that's just the mentality down here

You will find that we here in Virginia are a friendly bunch and like to get together and shoot whenever we can.
Once you get settled in give a yell and I can show you a couple of ranges around here. Triangle is only about 15 mins from me and the BRA , silver eagle , or the NRA range are around that we can shoot the long guns, and Sharp shooters is just up the road for pistols. Cowboy T does sharpshooters have lanes for rifles yet I can remember.

Both are fine firearms. for Hunting I would lean to the savage. I have 2 savages and a remington 700 that I love but tend to grag the savages when ever i walk out the door.

I'm also a great admirer of the Savage, although I have the model with the Accu-Trigger. One of my main reasons for buying it was availability, when I was ready to jump, the Remington was special order, two or three week wait time, while the Savage, also special order, only took two days.
Left-handed models are not all that available.
