Has the demand for AR's peaked or is the scarcity of ammo to blame? Which begs the next question, how long do you wait before you buy your next rifle?

Pricing on complete uppers doesn't seem to be at or below the pre-recent-craziness price yet.

Lemme know when piston AR's get standardized, and less than $1K.... otherwise?
I'm fine. But as to "Finding ammo", They ain't going to GUNSHOWS! Because you can find AR/AK ammo all day, every day, and sometimes, PRE-NEWTOWN prices!
.22LR? I'd sell my sister for a .50 cal can of three boxes of Federal Blue Box Champion HP .36 grain.

Re: Has the demand for AR-15's bottomed out?
I refused to buy during the spike. I knew it was a passing phase and I already had 2 AR's. For anyone who didn't have one though... yea, they were in panic mode. But trust me, if the lefty libs got their way, people would be thankful they got one at all and could have cared less about the price.
I plan on taking advantage of the price bubble popping and buying a few lowers next month... maybe 3 or 4, and building a few custom guns. I want to make two semi-auto 1,000 yard guns and two CQC guns. I think I'll be able to build all of them (less the high-end glass) for under $4k. I am seeing really nice direct gas light barrel uppers for $300-$400, ready to pin and fire. I have to be able to do my own for about the same price. Piston uppers are still $1,000 - $1,200 though.
I am finding ammo all over. I found so much .22LR that I just stopped buying it due to not using as fast as I can buy it. Also, last month I got over 2,000 rounds of 5.56 and .223 m193 style rounds for about 0.53 cents each. If I didn't have a ton of it now, I could buy today for 0.44 cents a round off the shelf at local stores.

There won' be a "standard" piston AR any time in the future. Like the 1911, the AR got it's start in the military, which has used a variant of it for about 50 years at this point. It would take the U.S. Army or U.S.M.C. adopting the M16A? or M4A? and purchasing a large quantity of rifles with the piston system. Then it would probably be 10-20 years after the "standard" was set for other manufacturers to have the opportunity to begin producing it after the patent rights expired.Reverenddel wrote:Lemme know when piston AR's get standardized, and less than $1K.... otherwise?

You just have to ask yourself, is he telling you the truth based on knowledge and experience or spreading internet myths?

I just got a catalog (Either Natchez or Brownell's) with AR15 lpk's for $60. That's about what it was before the school killings in CT.

You are correct sir! Until the piston AR is put under military contract, you won't have a standard.
As to the bottoming out? I will admit a slight sigh of relief about prices normalizing, considering The Long Legged Liar in Chief, and the Vice Mouth are continuing to push for gun control.
There is a gun show at RIR Race way the first weekend in July. I hope to see some bargain action.

I hope so. It'll make it easier for me to get stuff for my new AR.
