@shotgun: You don't get my point. I am not defending Sanford. I am pointing out why Clinton and Wiener are despicable.
I think the error you made is in equating "lying" with "committing the CRIME of perjury by lying under oath in a court proceeding". Clinton was impeached for violating the law, even worse, doing it while he was in an elected position of public trust, sworn to uphold the law. There is no legitimate reason why he should not have gone to jail, under the same standard as Scooter Libby did (even though Libby's treatment was entirely unjust).

No, I think the error that I made was that I didn't specifically use the word perjury. I didn't think I'd have to spell it out for a group of people with knowledge of modern political history, but I was wrong.
