I'm of the mind forcing adoption agencies from barring gay adoption is as wrong as making them process gay adoptions. Let each agency decide for themselves and people can patronize whatever they wish.

Give broad discretion to social workers? Kreutz, that may be the craziest damned thing even you ever said. I'm thinking feverishly, and I can't recall ever knowing a single social worker who wasn't a total nanny-state-personified-in-MY-omniscient-person-knows-best nutcase.
