Saudi Diplomats Human Trafficking (Slavery) in McLean
WASHINGTON — The Department of Homeland Security is investigating a possible case of human trafficking at a Saudi Arabian diplomatic compound in McLean, Virginia, a DHS official confirmed to BuzzFeed on Wednesday.
"I can confirm that DHS did remove two potential trafficking victims this morning," said Brandon Montgomery, a spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "
The incident was first reported by the local NBC affiliate, which also reported that Fairfax County records show that the building is owned by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. NBC reports that "one woman reportedly tried to flee by squeezing through a gap in the front gate as it was closing."

Washington (CNN) -- Federal authorities are investigating a potential case of human trafficking at the suburban Washington home of a Saudi diplomat, officials said Wednesday.
Authorities were called Tuesday afternoon to an upscale neighborhood in McLean, Virginia, where they "removed two potential trafficking victims," U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Brandon Montgomery told CNN.
A State Department official said the McLean house is the home of a Saudi diplomat.
The case is under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, a unit within ICE.
The two women, who are from the Philippines and currently work at the Saudi Embassy in Washington, claim they were mistreated, according to the State Department official.

DHS? Shouldn't that be an FBI, local, or joint op?
And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!

You know the feds can't let the local folks handle this... That leaves too much information out there that can't be easily swept under the rug at the federal level to protect our Saudi "friends"GeneFrenkle wrote:DHS? Shouldn't that be an FBI, local, or joint op?

If it is people very high up, probably invoke Diplomatic immunity. This gets it out of our news fairly quickly. They may still have to deal with the issue at home.
If it is someone medium to low, they cut them lose and get in the media saying that they want the US courts to sort this out. If their person is found guilty then, they need to do the time for the crime. This allowed them to take the high road and look the best in international eyes.
BTW, I have had dealings with some people with diplomatic immunity. For my issue, they let the US legal system do it's thing. As far as I know this never really hit the news.
BTW2, According to the news (we know how well they can be trusted), the females in question are Philippians. They didn't say they were sex slaves or anything else of that nature. They said they had been mistreated. This could be anything from a sex slave ring to a mail order bride that didn't like her husband to a couple women who would like to become American citizens see this as a path to citizenship.

Human traffickers.....there is no punishment I can think of better for them than a short drop and a sudden stop, they're not even worth shooting!

Nothing like a Pauline epistle to get things done!Palladin wrote:Those cats from Philippi still around?! Paul will write them a letter and set them straight...
Saudi Arabia outlawed slavery in 1962, from what I understand it's still a major slave hub, particularly in the domestic servant capacity. I know Tel Aviv specializes in sex slaves.
Its getting to be a major issue, and a majorly profitable one at that, so expect it to get worse, not better.

Quite a few black African Christians toiling under Arab Muslims lashes in Sudan and thereabouts, as they have for over a thousand years and nary a peep from the "black leaders" here.RWBlue01 wrote:I wonder why the NAACP isn't all over this. Slaves is slaves.
