1. YES! Senate background check bill goes down in flames! Barack and Bloomberg are NOT happy campers

Congratulations, VCDL! This was a great day for gun owners. The Senate failed to pass the Toomey/Manchin amendment and other amendments! And Virginia played a role in those defeats!

And Warner DID hear us and voted correctly 3 out of 4 times on key votes. Kaine voted wrong on everything and that treachery will be remembered in six years at election time.

There were a series of votes, here's what they were and how our two Senators voted:

* Amendment to ban magazines that will hold more than 10 rounds: Warner voted PRO-GUN, Kaine voted ANTI-GUN

* Manchin, Toomey, Schumer amendment: Warner voted ANTI-GUN, Kaine voted ANTI-GUN

* Feinstein amendment to ban "assault weapons": Warner voted PRO-GUN, Kaine voted ANTI-GUN

* Amendment to allow concealed carry recognition in all 50 states: Warner voted PRO-GUN, Kaine voted ANTI-GUN

We will continue to watch for any further activity in Congress on gun control.

Video of an unhappy President Obama. Biden looks like he just ate a lemon. And then there's Bloomberg - a small man with lots of anger. All three of them told a lot of lies, played on he emotions of Americans shamelessly, and all for naught because gun owners fought back and fought back HARD. I'm particularly proud of all of you who repeatedly called and emailed both of our Senators, hounding them to do the right thing:

2. Virginia gun-control advocate ejected from Senate after disrupting proceedings

Lori Haas apparently lost it in the Senate gallery, yelling at the Senators. She and another woman were summarily ejected (ouch!). Lori should have known better. Very bad form.

The raw emotion of the background check amendment defeat played out in the Senate gallery just after Vice President Biden read the vote count in his capacity as Senate president.

“Shame on you!” at least two women were heard shouting.

As they were escorted from the Capitol, Patricia Maisch and Lori Haas said they shouted in anger. Maisch successfully knocked a large ammunition magazine out of the hands of Jared Loughner in Jan. 2011 after he shot former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and other bystanders.

“They are an embarrassment to this country, that they don’t have any compassion or care for people who have been taken brutally from their families,” Maisch said as officers attempted to remove her from the building. “I HATE THEM,” she said of the senators. [PVC: So because a person has a tragedy, the rest of us are monsters if we don't give up our rights over it? Who's the one being unreasonable here?]

“We’re sick and tired of the death in this country and these legislators stand up there and think it’s a bunch of numbers,” said Haas, whose daughter, Emily, was wounded in the April 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech.

“It’s a shame, it’s appalling, it’s disgusting,” she added. [PVC: Was Lori referring to her behavior in the gallery?]

3. VCDL President to participate in "Second Amendment Support Night" TONIGHT (Thursday) in Arlington
***********************************************************************

I will be participating in the "Second Amendment Support Night" TONIGHT (Thursday, April 18) in Arlington from 6:30 PM until 9 PM. It is sponsored by the Arlington Tea Party and is open to the public. Come out to show support for VCDL and to also hear the other participants: Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America and Glenn A. Caroline with the NRA.

The topic is the current governmental efforts to restrict the exercise of our 2nd Amendment rights.
