The vote is at 4PM today. Have you called your senator?

Post by FiremanBob »

Just called the offices of both Kaine and Warner. Staffers for both said they will support Schumer's anti-gun bill. I said that I hope they will reconsider, considering that a majority of Virginians oppose the bill, and asked that they represent their fellow Virginians rather than their party this time.

I know these tools will vote for it anyway, but it can't hurt to flood their phones for the afternoon.

The bill looks to be DOA but it doesn't hurt to let your rep know how you feel.

Look at page 56. Incidents of targeted school violence by year. You can see the growth of incidents after the gun-free school zones act was enacted. I emailed Kaine that if he really wanted to do something positive for the children...

Voting is going on now. If I hear one more senator persuading a vote by mentioning 20 beautiful children I'm going to be sick.

Interesting comment from NY senator Chuck Schumer regarding concealed carry reciprocity that what's good for the plains of Wyoming isn't necessarily good for the urban areas of NY (as in he doesn't want Wyoming concealed carry holders to be able to conceal carry in NY), yet he does not feel the same about certain rifles or magazine sizes.

@shotgun - for this time, yes. Reid's procedural vote can make it reintroduced at some later point.

And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!
