I like mine. I like my M&P9c better, but it is bigger and heavier.
The Shield handles well, is robust to which ammo, and shoots where it points.

I have both, like tursiops. Both great guns. The trigger on the Shield is better OOTB, and maybe even a little better than the 9C even with the Apex kit. The concealability of the Shield is wicked nice.

My wife loves her Shield as well.

Do you have any problems with the gun shooting left? I just got mine and it shoots consistently to the left about 3", with three different shooters. The rear sight is off center and is hanging slightly to the right off the slide. I am afraid I will have to send it back to S & W for repairs. :(

JNelson, not at all. Was any work done on it? You have to remove the rear sight on the M&P 9C to install the Apex kits, so if you had that done on your shield, that may be the issue.

It was brand new, so no work done to it. I am sending it back to S & W for repair.

I remember when I first got my shield I would shoot low left. After a few more outings, I found that I was slapping the trigger because I am used to my lighter glock triggers. Before sending it out, shoot it a few more times over a few different range trips. You'll get used to the trigger and the pull weight.

I've recently upgraded the trigger to an Apex kit and it is a smoother and lighter pull. I love the shield and it is my daily ankle carry. My G19 is my primary when i am not at work.

FWIW, I wish I'd bought a striker-fired gun, like the Shield or even a Nano, instead of the LC9. I knew the DAO pull would be long, but the trigger is also very sloppy. Still waiting on upgrade kits from Galloway Precision, so it may improve, but I think you have the better gun.
