The anti-gunners have begun to beat their drums again in opposition to the Second Amendment.
"A Day to Demand Action" took place yesterday, where individuals rallied from California to Connecticut against our natural right to keep and bear arms. Not surprisingly, these demonstrations were fueled by a piece of $13 million propaganda paid for by none other than New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
In Washington, President Obama addressed the nation and once again urged Congress to act and pass federal legislation for "gun safety" that, of course, he says is "consistent with the Second Amendment."
Obama said:
"In the coming weeks, members of Congress will vote on whether we should require universal background checks for anyone who wants to buy a gun so that criminals or people with severe mental illnesses can't get their hands on one. They'll vote on tough new penalties for anyone who buys guns only to turn around and sell them to criminals. They'll vote on a measure that would keep weapons of war and high-capacity ammunition magazines that facilitate these mass killings off our streets. They'll get to vote on legislation that would help schools become safer and help people struggling with mental health problems to get the treatment that they need."
Obama's gun-control push is nothing new. He pushed for it - twenty-three executive actions worth - on January 16, he pushed for it in his February State of the Union Address, and he pushed it in his March 23 weekly address as he did on Thursday.
Obama has rallied against gun-rights each month in 2013 so far!
Not only has Obama pressed Congress on passing unconstitutional gun-control legislation, he has also pressed the people American people to press Congress! He told activists yesterday to "make themselves heard right now."
With yesterday's nationwide rallies and Obama's personal calls to anti-gun activists, we must make sure that We Conservatives make our voices loud and clear in support of gun-rights and the Second Amendment! We must demand that Congress passes no law that would abridge our unrestricted Second Amendment!

Feinstein Ban: Plan B
Not long after the Feinstein ban passed the Judiciary Committee 10-8 the bill mysteriously died. Know this: The Feinstein Ban did not fold because the anti-gunners gave up - not at all - the Feinstein Ban was trashed because anti-gunners knew that it wouldn't pass as it was packaged.
Over the last month of relative silence, federal gun-controllers have regrouped and repackaged their anti-gun effort in order to push it further and get increased support of their colleagues who would've likely never supported the effort as it stood as an outright gun-ban. They want their disarmament passed under a banner of "compromise."
Although several anti-gun bills have been introduced - see next section - Harry Reid's new bill is the one that will take priority and receive a vote first. This is expected to happen in April.
The Reid Bill - The Safe Communities and Safe Schools Act (S. 649) - though not an "assault weapons ban" per se, will include the tenets of the Feinstein Bill via amendment. The California Senator has already said she will offer her Bill's magazine ban and model ban (which, according to Alan Korwin, effectively bans all guns with a pistol grip) as amendments to the Reid bill.
The Reid Bill would create, as Obama had requested, universal background checks, gun-tracking via a gun registry, and mandatory mental-health screening (connected to the healthcare law).
S. 649's summary states its purpose is "To ensure that all individuals who should be prohibited from buying a firearm are listed in the national instant criminal background check system and require a background check for every firearm sale, and for other purposes."
This repackaged effort is just as hostile to the Second Amendment and our right to keep and bear arms as the Feinstein Ban. It's gun-control just the same.
Time is short, we must act now to protect gun-rights! Congress will pick-up this fight soon after they return from their current recess!
Take action and blast faxes to U.S. lawmakers demanding that they oppose all federal gun-control legislation or amendments to legislation! There is no "compromise" on the Second Amendment!
Other Anti-Gun Bills
While the Reid Bill - along with the Feinstein Amendments - accomplishes many of Obama's January 16th legislative requests alone, it is not the only bill we need to demand U.S. lawmakers to oppose. There are three other bills that reiterate similar gun-control measures: the Sanchez Bill, the Schumer Bill, and the Lautenberg Bill.
California Rep. Linda Sanchez has introduced a bill that would impose a ten-percent tax on any and all "concealable firearms" - while her bill is still in committee, it must be watched closely. We know how government works: if they can't ban something outright, they'll tax it out of use. Sanchez' bill is so dangerous because it's essentially a "sin tax" on the exercise of the Second Amendment; under her bill, all those who wish to "keep and bear arms" will have to jump excessive and unnecessary financial hurdles. What's more, the "revenue" from these taxes are to be use to fund gun buyback programs.
New York's Charles Schumer has introduced a bill that would establish universal background checks. The Senator told Meet the Press that such checks are the "sweet spot" of the gun control debate and that he suspects to see support in "the coming weeks."
Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) - the Senator who expressed he was "confident" gun-control bills would pass in the 113th Congress - had introduced on Tuesday, January 22nd, a bill that would limit "high-capacity" magazines.
The New Jersey Senator said, "It is clearer than ever that there is no place in our communities for military-style supersized magazines like those used inside Sandy Hook Elementary School, in Aurora, and in Tucson, and I will keep working to reinstate the ban on them." The Lautenberg Bill also has a House counterpart; like the Feinstein Bill it is sponsored by New York's Rep. McCarthy. While these Bills may seem redundant, we must still demand they be opposed. Anti-gun Senators do not write these to waste their time; they write them because, if passed, they're effective.

Allies in the Senate
The biggest battle to preserve gun-rights will take place in the Senate, where the odds are stacked against us seeing that that the Upper House of Congress is run by Democrats, many of them vehemently opposed to an armed citizenry.
However, the good news is we have several prominent conservative Senators on our side: Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Rand Paul (R-KY).
In a letter to the sponsor of Congress' most recent gun-control push, the conservative trio committed to "oppose any legislation that would infringe on the American people's constitutional right to bear arms, or on their ability to exercise this right without being subjected to government surveillance."
The Senators told Senate Majority Leader Reid that "The Second Amendment to the Constitution protects citizens' right to self-defense. It speaks to history's lesson that government cannot be in all places at all times, and history's warning about the oppression of a government that tries."
Not only that: the Senators said that they will "oppose the motion to proceed" on any piece of legislation that would violate the People's right to keep and bear arms!
Will we see another filibuster in the Senate? If it comes down to it, yes.
All pro-gun Senators must get behind Sen. Cruz, Lee, and Paul's efforts to completely stop anti-gun legislation in its tracks - despite the wishes of the gun-grabbers like Harry Reid and Diane Feinstein!

Responding to Barack Obama's gun-control invocation yesterday, Sen. Mike Lee rightly debunked the President's false anti-gun narrative.
The Senator from Utah said,
"The proposals the president is calling for Congress to pass would primarily serve to reduce the constitutionally protected rights of law-abiding citizens while having little or no effect on violent crime. It is deeply unfortunate that he continues to use the tragedy at Newtown as a backdrop for pushing legislation that would have done nothing to prevent that horrible crime."
Further, Sen. Cruz called out Obama, saying:
"In any conversation about how to prevent future tragedies such as Sandy Hook, our focus should be on stopping criminals from obtaining guns. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration has failed to make this a priority - in 2010, out of more than 15,700 fugitives and felons who tried to illegally purchase a firearm, the Obama Justice Department prosecuted only 44. That is unacceptable.
It is saddening to see the President today, once again, try to take advantage of this tragic murder to promote an agenda that will do nothing to stop violent crime, but will undermine the constitutional rights of all law-abiding Americans. I am committed to working with Sens. Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, and Jim Inhofe--and I hope many other colleagues--to use any procedural means necessary to protect those fundamental rights.
While some of our allies are ready to fight, we must demand other Senators and Representatives to join to fight to protect gun-rights and the Constitution that they swore to uphold and protect against all enemies!
April will likely be the month that determines whether or not the Second Amendment as we know it is upheld our hollowed-out by overzealous "public servants."
The time for action is now!

Re: The National Political Landscape for Gun Grabbers
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

Nice. The damned gub'mint is going to FORCE you to be evaluated by a doctor that is beholden to that gub'mint for payment for his services and have HIM decide if you might have any mental issues that might make you a bad candidte to have/buy a gun.
And what are deoctors everywhere FAMOUS for doing? Why, for sparing no expense to cover their own asses by doing extravagently excessive things to insure their decisions won't be qiestioned retroactively, of course.
And what is our gub'mint ALREADY doing in this same health care environment to these same health care providers? Why, they are retroctively reviewing what the providers do and sanctioning them for decisions that 20/20 hindsight reveals to have been suboptimal (in THEIR opinion, that is), of course.
So, is the stage set for the damned gub'mint to browbeat the docs into classifying anyone who ever so much as hollered "dammit" when he stubbed his toe as mentally unstable and unfit to have a firearm? You're damned skippy it is! It ain't just likely; it's inevitable.
