Only in Md.- Woman Cited for Driving 63 in a 65 MPH Zone
A Maryland woman was shocked after she received a traffic ticket on Interstate 95 -- because it wasn't for speeding.
In fact, she was driving two mph under the speed limit.
The driver, who didn't want her name used, told News4 she was driving in the left lane of I-95 on Laurel last Friday when she was pulled over and cited for failing to move right.
According to the citation, she had been driving 63 mph in a 65 mph zone.

If the roads are clear and you're impeding traffic, hell yeah, you get a ticket for driving under the speed limit in the left lane. She claims it was windy and that's why she was driving slow, but that doesn't explain why she was in the left lane.

Not sure about MD, but in VA it is illegal to ride in the left lane if someone wants to pass you.[1]

The only time I'll ride the left lane is if it's dark out and no one is behind me. I figure if a deer is going to jump out in the middle of the road, it's less likely to jump out after already crossing the oncoming lane(s).

SB brings up a good point... unless there are woods in the median... in which case... yer screwed. HAHAHAHA
Now, I've WITNESSED State Tax Revenue Generators pulling people going slow in the left lanes for UNSAFE LOADS! Not going too slow.
Or as said "Ya' can't stack tires in a Chevy 1500 over the cab, and use BUNGIE CORDS to secure them! "

I love this. The worst is the idiot in the left lane who ensures that they're going the exact same speed as the car next to them. Either slow down 1mph or speed up 1mph and get your ass over in the right lane!

Rick, we have a term... When a group of cars are ALL going the same speed in ALL the lanes, we say "(expletives) are moving in BOMBER FORMATION!"

If you are riding in the left lane, no matter what speed you are doing, and someone wants to pass, you need to move over. Left Lane Lucys deserve a ticket.

oh please - all the buttholes who drive 90 adhere completely to the left lane. And if they come up on someone doing 80 (both being in say a 55 zone), the one going 90 feels he is justified for getting pissed.
I don't get it. That type of tomfoolery only exacerbates everyone's idea that the speed laws are simply a guide of what speed to go if you see a cruiser in the nearby vicinity.
Same guys complaining about it are the ones that slam on their breaks if they even get a hint of a uniform.
It's kindergarden playground all over again.

If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom.

Good for him why on earth would you ever be going under the speed limit. If you think the speed limit is to high maybe you should just take a bus.

The left lane is for passing slower moving cars in the right lane, not for cruising down the road. Cruising down the road is done in the right lane. I will try to move over into the left lane when coming up on an entrance/exit ramp so I can be out of the way of people getting on/off the highway but I get back in the left lane once I'm past the entrance ramp.
I wish we had more troopers in VA that would ticket slow moving cars in the left lane of 95 and 288. Or even Rt. 10. I try to stay off Rt. 10 between work and home. Those folks who want to drive 45/50 mph in the left lane mile after mile and then slow down even more for curves (there isn't a single curve on Rt. 10 between Hopewell and Chesterfield that requires a car/truck to drop to 40 mph to negotiate the curve, but they do it) should learn to drive or ride a bus.

Exactly. I have no problems with left lane bandits getting tickets.

Someone could easily legally pass her doing the speed limit of 65 if she is doing 63.DryBones wrote:so move over for the speeder who is breaking the speed limit? I wonder if the cop was behind her for awhile and she never moved over so he flipped on the lights for her??

Clearly, you don't understand the concept of the left lane on the highway. If you are going 80, and someone going 90 is approaching, move right and let them pass.MNMGoneShooting wrote:oh please - all the buttholes who drive 90 adhere completely to the left lane. Left lane = overtaking lane.
