the other day I was in the Mannassas Wal-Mart off Liberia and was looking in the Ammo case and saw that WWB .40 cal for 50 was priced at $46.99. 2 months ago they were ~$24 for the same box. I guess that is the world of supply and demand for you, and No I did not buy it as it was the last one in the case and figured some un-prepared person might need it more then me. Aint Realoading wonderful?

I dont even go to that Walmart any more. Its full of illegals and the deals arent deals, not like they used to be.
But I still dont consider that gouging. Its just normal equilibrium on the supply/demand curve. Gouging would be closer to 100 for such a box.

In any case, nobody is currently gouging anyone for ammo. The American public is going gun crazy right now and ammo is selling well, thats it. Wait until summer, the hysteria will be gone, ammo will be cheap, and you will likely get some darn good prices on lightly used guns too.

Just me…. Things will level out, and I suspect when they do, you’ll see some deals… most likely it’s from the same guys asking $2000 for $600 dollar AK. You know the guy who ran up their credit cards buying stuff looking to flip it and couldn't because he priced himself out of the game and now the credit cards are looking for their money.

This is no different from the bozo's who spent $500k on a house hoping to flip it for $750, only to find out he was behind the curve and it's not worth $250. There is one difference - BHO isn't gonna bail the panic-buyers out, he's just gonna take 'em away.

Guess that depends on which Wal-Mart (I still spell it the old way) you shop at, as far as the illegals. In my hometown of Mtn. Home, AR, (Wal-Mart store #11) we have no problem with Wal-Mart being overrun with illegals. Then again, it's the Ozarks and we don't have a problem with much of anything. But I do miss the employee discount I used to receive when I worked there, and the real, no-joke blue light specials they did when my grandma worked at the same store for 20 years. They used to wheel around a cart with a single, blue police light on it.

As for the topic at-hand, I recently sold two AR-15 stripped lowers on these forums. Could've price gouged, but didn't. The way I see it, capitalism is the law of the land and it isn't my fault if people didn't see this whole gun fiasco coming a country mile away. As soon as Barack Hussein Obama got re-elected, I went out and bought up AR lowers because I knew something wicked this way comes. So I could've asked for a ridiculous amount -- I just chose not to gouge because I view the people on this board as like-minded individuals that I may someday want or need to do business with and I'd hope they'd do the same for me. But if they didn't, so be it.

Hard to call it gouging now that manufacturers have started raising their MSRP. I think these prices are here to stay.

As far as I can tell, gouging is merely non-buyers complaining because they couldn't find the product at a price they preferred. i.e. the non-buyer is unwilling to pay the market price while complaining that an ice cream cone used to cost only $0.05...
