Time for new boots

I need to replace my boots. Anyone have any suggestions on where to get a good pair at a fair price? Any suggestions , likes or dislikes as far as type and/or brand?

If'n your looking for hiking boots, look no further than Asolo boots. Now, you're gonna throw down some good money on these, but let me tell you, the pair that I acquired almost 6 years ago are STILL going strong through Appalachian trail hikes, Hikes through multiple California locations, through Puerto Rico jungle (El Yunque) and romping around in my parents woods when I'm home. They're a little tough on the feet when you first get them but once they're broke in it's amazing. My pair that I have do have a little problem with water resistance but they've since upgraded their shoes to even higher quality and I've gone hiking in my friends ASolo's and they were aaaaaaamazing as well. If you have weak ankles, the support they have there is rigid and very good. I've rolled mine a few times on wet logs, slippery slopes and never sprained or twisted my ankles as of yet. Cost: 125-250 depending on the type you get.

For safety boots, I still have all ten toes, never sprained my ankle at work, the boots are pretty good against oil/wet surface resistance. These boots are the standard issue for us Coasties. For these look at the Super Boots 3 - they're about 80-100 bucks depending on where you get them from. They're made by "Gore." Least you can say then that you drag Gore (Al) around some nasty stuff!

Cheaper than Asolos, I have had my LLBean Cresta boots for seven years now and they are still waterproof and fit perfectly. Outstanding boots.

For good work boots at a fair price, I like Red Wing, but you have to get the American ones, not the Chinese imports.

I wear the American Made Redwing boots. I work 70-80 hours a week on my feet in a factory and those boots last 3 years easily.

As far as hunting boots Redwing makes Irish Setter. They have American made versions as well as Chinese versions. I cant speak for the Chinese but the American has served me well in the field.

You get what you pay for. And I'd rather support the American jobs. I don't live in China.

Irish Setters have been a great boot for me. Very light and durable.

I have really good service from both Rocky's and LaCrosse. I have one pair with 400gr thinsulate and one with 800gr of thinsulate. I I need something for colder on stand I use slip on booties that are insulated. For wet, boggy areas you can't beat insulated Mucks.

My next boot purchase will probably be the tackiest pair of Dingo's that I can find. Maybe gator hide, maybe rattler skin, with the head and rattles on them. Or, maybe a pair of each.

LaCrosse, Danner and Irish Setter I have owned. For deer hunting I typically wear my LaCrosse rubbers, very warm and almost impossible to get your feet wet. Small game it's usually the Danners, no issues at all.

I am going to check out the Asolos, never heard of them before. Any local Nova stores carry them?

If you can find a hiking outlet then I'm sure they'd have Asolos in there. I'm not sure if Dicks keeps them in stock or not.

I bought a pair of Herman Survivors 30-35 years ago, they are still doing good. Herman Survivors today is not the same company. They put the label on any piece of junk they can buy on the world market. I have a pair Danner boots that are 25 years old and still going strong.
The old saw "You get what you pay for!" is still true.

Different uses different boots.

Hunting elk/deer in mountains and hiking steep ground I use the Danner boots, like to stick with the original Danners not the Lacrosse boots that are marketed as Danner because Lacrosse bought out Danner. The airbob soles on the Danner's really help when side hilling or downhill in steep terrain

Very cold weather/but need traction in steep terrain I like the Scnee's or White's pack boots. they have a tight ankle fit and you can hike in em even though they are heavier than a non pack boot.

Eastern Va, not hiking tough terrain or beating up the boot much I like almost any comfortable boot in warmer weather/ Muck boots if wet/cold or rubber boots with thick socks if warm or not too cold.

Cant say enough about the Danner air bobs if hunting/ hiking in steep tough terrain and need a boot with good support. If you are hunting in tough country in particular if you are going on that once in a lifetime hunt buy the best boot you can afford and break em in prior to hunt. Have seen cheap boots or boots not broken in ruin expensive elk hunts by the second day
