CC in DMV

Post by 40shooter »

Is it legal to CC in the DMV? I have to make a trip to the dreaded DMV branch today & would like to know, before I go, if it's legal to carry my firearm concealed inside the building.
What say you?

It's not a federal facility, so unless posted at the door, I see no reason why you can't carry there. (IANAL!)

It's a state facility, think pre-emption. It's not specifically listed in the state laws as a no CC location so yes you can CC.

... was at DMV today (Fair Oaks branch located in Mall), saw no signs prohibiting at the DMV - was so happy to have gotten in/out in 20mins, didn't look for signs on Mall entrances - you have to travel thru Mall to get to DMV location in Fair Oaks.

The DMV I use is in the Pentagon. Can I carry there and claim pre-emption...

Try it and let us know. :hysterical:

On a more serious note I would use that one but I'm a little incapacitaed at the moment, read out of work with an injury. Too much walking in that building, especially from North Parking. maybe I'll see you around there sometime, when I go back.

The one in the Pentagon? Hardly ever more than a 5-10 minute wait there for me. Its over around 2C1049 I think unless they moved it during this last bit of renovation.

Now that I think about it, my last trip to the DMV in Woodbridge was too get my son a "Walker's ID" for football And my wife informed me of a "NO Firearms" sign. I remember returning to my vehicle to stash my weapon.
