Brass vs Steel Cased Ammo

I'll stick with surplus steel but for reloading I'll go with the brass. I'm a novice and have no experience looking for bad cases. Sounds like steel is alright if you know what to look for.

What I do like about steel is being able to pick it up with a magnet.
