Gunsmith recommendation for bluing in NoVA?

If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

Gunsmith recommendation for bluing in NoVA?

Post by Mindflayer »

My father left me his grandfather's H&R Topper M48 break action 16 gauge before he left for the 2A-unfriendly state of Hawaii. It's in rough shape - he tried one of those bluing kits once and it just made the rust worse. I am thinking of getting it rust blued and with the Thanksgiving Home Disaster of 2012™, I don't have time or the will. Any recommendations?

Have you found anyone yet? Sorry, haven't been around much since July. There's a guy near Gainesville who works on older guns, this should be right up his alley. Call Hatfield's in Manassas, if they can't they'll give you that guy's number. He's old, hard of hearing, but his work is good.
