It sounds to me like the individual was exercising his 2nd Amendment right to openly carry a rifle, and I am glad that the Police understood that and did the right thing.

I understand that in today’s environment that this incident can and was being looked at in a negative way, and was probably not the best way to exercise his 2A rights with all that is going on right now. But, in saying that what better time then now to show that not everyone that has an "Assult Rifle" is a mass murderer. I guess this is why there is always the discussion between OC and the CCL crowds, and just so you know I lean more to the OC side of the discussion with the opportunity to educate those who ask why I am caring a gun.

If the Kroger’s did not have a no weapons sign posted on the front door or on the entrance to their property then there was no crime and they should not have banned the individual from the store. I think that maybe there should be more open carry so that folks do not get alarmed as easy. All they saw was a big BLACK ugly rifle with a large Magazine in it and ran scared.

"Kroger managers have banned him from the property."

The manager's response is to ban him for no wrongdoing?
And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!

No need to shop at Kroger, there are plenty of other food stores in that part of town.

Kroger apparently does have a no weapons policy. Dunno if it's posted at that location, I may check it out later today.

As for the banning of this individual from the property, the company is probably more sensitive this kind of thing since the incident below:

FWIW, I wouldn't leave ANYTHING I cared about in my car the at two Krogers in Charlottesville city limits.

That's my take on it as well.
How could he not think it would create a panic with everything going on now.
No common sense!

Good job C'ville police. Except for the pointing loaded guns at someone breaking no laws.

Good idea? No.

Do I have any problem with this? No.

Same with the man with the 2x4 in the school. (labelled with a magic marker as an assault rifle).

Statists and ignorant subjects require more "demonstrative" means of getting an educations on the messiness that is freedom. Mission accomplished.
