I'm just being cautious and taking it slow.
Nothing wrong with taking it slow. I felt the same way about applying for a CHP. Glad I did and one of the best decisions I've made. I can carry almost anywhere I want without anyone knowing but me and confident that I can defend myself, loved ones, or others if need be.

You have to make your own choice and make it for the right reasons. Regardless of your choice, IMO we are still a family here and will stick together.

I will have fun with my next security clearance investigation though. It will no doubt raise some eyebrows. But that's ok. This is still America and these are all principles that our country was founded upon. Its only your right if you take it and exercise it.

Zephyp, it may not make a difference on the Security Clearance issue. I just recently got an upgrade & I swear it seemed to go through very fast. I know guys who applied for the upgrade before me & are still waiting. Of course YMMV.

Well I'm not due for another year, but with all the stuff going on you never know what questions they might ask. And membership in organizations is one they already ask. I usually dont worry about these things but they are a royal pain in the butt.
