Ruger LC9 grip question

Post by UnderwaterMike »

Bought a Ruger LC9 (geeked out and got the LaserMax trigger guard option, too) because my G26 was just too stout to carry concealed. (The LC9 is not all that much stealthier, but that's a different topic.) Spent some time at the range over the holidays and discovered that I'm having a really hard time finding the best grip position for the Ruger. I don't have large hands or anything, but I can't cram my pinky onto the grip even with the floor plate extension installed on the magazine. The trigger reach is kind of short, too, so my index finger feels like it's kinked or something in trying to seat properly on the trigger. Doesn't help that the DAO pull is really long...

At any rate, does anyone have tips on getting a good or proper grip poisition on this thing, including alternatives for the support hand? So far I've resigned myself to finding something that works via trial and error, but after a couple hundred rounds through the gun it's no more comfortable than when I started. And the lack of positive grip is painfully evident in terms of accuracy. I'm so doubtful of my ability to get rounds in the right place that I won't carry it until my groups improve.

Suggestions welcome. Thanks.
