My Email to Regal Cinemas
Upon my arrival to a Regal Movie Theater today with my family I saw the "No guns allowed" sign on the door. I looked at the wife and went back to the car to secure my weapon. After the movie I came home and sent them an email with the following.....
"I find it hard to believe that Regal does not allow law abiding citizens with CCW permits to carry their firearms (concealed) into your movie theaters, especially after the incident in Colorado.
By doing this the only person in your theaters with a weapon is the criminal!
I hope your company will reconsider it's policy.
I for one, and many more will not return to your theaters until then.
Sincerely,
Mark XXXXXXX"
I hope more folks will do the same......

Why should they change their policy when they still got your money?

Well, they certainly not getting mine. I will stick with the Marque or Paragon theaters. I have carried in both with no problems.

Strange. Not having a CHP, or living in the states for that matter, I dont quite worry about this. But you can bet your butt when I get back I look forward to limiting my experiences to gun friendly companies.

"NO GUNS" signs do not carry the force of law. The worst thing that can happen if they find out you're armed is they'll ask you to leave. The worst thing that can happen if you're unarmed and some nutcase starts shooting up the place...? You do the math.
If it bothers you, vote with your feet. Regal is apparently operating under the misapprehension that bad guys pay attention to signs.

As one of the moonshiners says, "it's only illegal if you get caught!".

It's why I like BowTie.
I know that after that "Hollywood PSA" on "Guns", by a$$h*les who make VIOLENT MOVIES, I am not going to spend the cash on them.
I wanted to see "Django Unchained", no dice. Jamie Foxx is in it, along with Liberal DeCaprio.

I don't go to the theaters, at least not until they do away with the Imax 3d crap!
But yeah they don't carry the weight of the law, and if they ask you to leave you can demand a refund for the movie at least. And you can get the pleasure of giving the manager and anyone within ear shot the old "guns save lives" talk!
But you know now that I actually think about it I've never seen a "no guns" sign on the theater I go to, which I think may be regal. I guess it may be by franchise?

Those signs pertain to subjects. Citizens may ignore and proceed.

Please explain...... If it is posted "No Guns" it is the law.....
§18.2-308 (O.): Private property when prohibited by the owner of the property, or where posted as prohibited.

Not on private property. All they can do is ask you to leave. If you refuse (whether a sign is posted or not), you can be charged with criminal trespass.XD9SCLCP380 wrote:Please explain...... If it is posted "No Guns" it is the law.....
http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/virginia.pdf
Excerpt from Page 7:
Do “No Gun Signs” Have the Force of Law?
“NO”
"Handgunlaw.us highly recommends that you not enter a place that is posted "No Firearms" no matter what the state laws read/mean on signage. We recommend you print out the No Guns = No Money Cards and give one to the owner of the establishment that has the signage." As responsible gun owners and upholders of the 2nd Amendment we should also honor the rights of property owners to control their own property even if we disagree with them.”
“No Firearm” signs in Virginia have no force of law unless they are posted on property that is specifically mentioned in State Law as being off limits to those with a Permit/License to Carry. If you are in a place not specifically mentioned in the law that is posted and they ask you to leave, you must leave. If you refuse to leave then you are breaking the law and can be charged. Even if the property is not posted and you are asked to leave you must leave. Always be aware of the possibility that responding Police Officers who may have been called without your knowledge and may not know the laws on trespass etc. could arrest you even if you are within the law.
