President Obama on Wednesday told a business group that allowing Republicans to use the debt-limit vote as leverage "is not a game that I will play."
"We can't afford to go there again," Obama said, warning that it is "a weapon" that just damages the U.S. credit rating.
On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the debt ceiling should in some way be part of the deal.
"We can't have that kind of nonsense anymore," he said, referring to the 2011 debt-ceiling fight.

Yep, just give the President the power to raise the debt limit whenever he wants with no oversight or debate (all that "nonsense").......sounds like a great way to quicken our demise when the rest of the world realizes how out of control the debt is and stop buying it.

If Congress had the stones to refuse to act on increasing the debt limit, not only would BarryO find he had no choice but to play that game, but the damngummint would also QUIT SPENDING! I hope it happens. Shut the bastards down for a couple of months! Then we'd see just how long the Bureaucrats would "serve" out of a sense of anything but the next paycheck.

I agree.
No matter WHAT the GOP does? It's gonna be the "villain". Soooo screw it! Take the high road, don't give BHO a thing, and when things fall apart, just say "We have to be accountable to our constituents who voted us in, NOT the President!"
Personally? I think politicians who are more concerned with getting re-elected disgusting.

You must not have ever made any easy money, Rev. It's more addictive than crack cocaine could possibly be. And the way they rake it in up there in DC makes the easy money you can make honestly look like chump change.

The intelligent thing to do (which is why the GOP won't do it) is to very publicly promise the POTUS all the Clinton era tax rates he wants, as long as they get Clinton era spending.
It puts the ball back in the WH's court and lets them look like serious neogtiators instead of the obstructionists they're being portrayed as.
