Civilian Marksmanship Program purchase requirements

Post by newdovo »

Hey Folks,
I'm trying to get all of my documentation straight for submittal to the CMP to buy a Garand. My understanding has been that a CHP was acceptable for proof of the “Marksmanship or other Firearms Related Activity” requirement. In visiting the website and going through each of the eligibility requirements, the line referencing a CCL/CHP says “Distinguished, Instructor, or Coach status. - Concealed Carry License.”
I'm not sure if these items are separate or if the Concealed Carry License (CHP here in VA) must have some sort of qualification that I'm an instructor or coach. Anyone purchase from them using their CHP to fulfil the requirement?
I have e-mailed their customer service dep't, but figured that I'd check here, too.
Thanks!
Parry

Well, I figured I would answer my own question, as I received a response back from the CMP.

Did ya get your Garand? Im considering it as well and so far I can't find where there is a club here in central Va. The CMP website keeps timing out on me.

Haven't gotten it yet, but I'm planning on it soon. The Virginia Citizens Defense League is affiliated with the CMP, and membership can be used to fulfil that requirement. Their website is here: http://www.vcdl.org/

Let us know when you get the Garand. They are getting harder to find in affordable prices from what I here.

When you get your Garand you'll also want to look at their Greek M2 ball ammo. Great deal at .50 per round. I've been ordering 200 rounds per month now for a while.

Stryder67, several clubs qualify. I know the VCDL does. I joined the Garand Collectors Association.
