Sporting Ammo in Fires

Here is an interesting video showing how sporting ammo in bulk quantities reacts in fires and accident type situations. Although the video is a bit long, it's quite informative and worth watching.

Thanks. That is an interesting and useful vid. The simple thing that most people don't realize is that the case, being lighter than the bullet, is the part that takes flight when the cartridge is not contained in a firearm. And the flying case doesn't carry much energy, especially at a few yards distance. Another is that smokeless powders burn, but they do not detonate. This is not true of old-fashioned black powder which was both volatile and explosive.

This discussion pops up every few years in the fire fighting magazines. Nice to see SAAMI finally did a test, of various configurations. I've not seen the in-transport, or sporting goods store tests before. Most of the tests I'd seen were based on residential quantity.
