Hite Hollow range. any recent visits?
Seen this range get some positive reports in the past, but nothing terribly recent. Anyone been out there lately? Any changes since someone last commented?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Went there just a month or two ago. Nothing changed still a nice range!

Nice range!
The GF and I went over and shot on the pistol range some. Looked like some folks hadn't been paying attention to the "No skeet" rule.
In summary, a good place to practice, and the price is right (but there is a place for donations and I'm sure they're appreciated!).

people often put clays down range for something more interesting than paper.

Yes, but the posted rules at the range say no skeet, bottles, or other moveable targets.

no no, not flying targets, but placing the clays on the ground, and shooting them while stationary.

Had a good time when my co-worker and I went to do some pistol shooting.
Like any public range (This one without range officers) Make sure you are keeping an eye on those around you. Just because you're paying attention to what's going on doesn't mean they are. I had just finished shooting a mag, cleared my weapon, and set it down on the table. I called "Clear" and removed my hearing protection, just as the guy next to me picks up his .44mag snubbie and touches off a couple rounds.
Also, make sure you bring targets and target stands, as the stands they have there are.....rather bad.

Re: Hite Hollow range. any recent visits?
I'm there a few times a month.
There was a lot of trash there on Sunday. Everybody has the attitude that some one else needs to shoot thier cardboard or plywood. I always make it a point to pick up any trash on my way back to the benches hoping others will see and maybe get the point. The amount of brass left laying is distressing also but at least some people pick it up.
I always bring a target stand, that way when I'm on the pistol range I don't take up the whole thing by standing 5 yards from the wire like a lot of people do.
All in all it's a nice range. My work shedule allows me to go on weekdays when it isn't so crowded.

Roverhound, yeah, that is an issue there. My GF and I try to police up the area we use as well and try not to bee picky as to whether we put it on the ground or if someone else did.
I do try to put servicible cardboard where it could be recovered and used by a shooter, and we always leave a few of our clothespins behind.
Are you using one of the 1.5" PVC stands? Those are incredibly easy to throw together!
