That's nice and all, but if the Fed says good-bye to a certain gun or all guns, then they may as well be gone. Just like this "thing" with states having "Legal" Marijuana. Ugh... No. DEA will still throw them Smith & Wessons on your wrist and haul you off in the van.

For any kind of real gun reform and protections, you/we/us need to step up to the Federal level. Protection from the state is a great first step (I don't mean to stamp that out here) but the ultimate big evil are the wigs in D.C.

Because what Oath Keepers do is part of my "job" now on the Federal level. I took an Oath to defend the constitution, defend the U.S. against enemies foreign and domestic, and obey orders given by the President and Officers over me (so long as they're within reason to the UCMJ). My oath if I don't keep it will be a little more harsh than if a citizen doesn't keep their Pledge they make to the good ol' U.S. of A. So really, I cannot take the pledge of the Oath Keepers because if something comes about, that'll be to the Citizens to revolt against - not myself. Unless I want to go to the brig or commit treason. Some of their Oaths too are a little out of line in accordance to my job. One of theirs is "We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state, or to enter with force into a state, without the express consent and invitation of that state’s legislature and governor." Well, who do you think helped out tons of Katrina Victims by rescuing them? The Coast Guard. We didn't take up arms like the National Guard did - we took fire from people shooting their guns at us (the helos), but we still went in there while martial law was in order and did our jobs rescuing people.

It's opposing ideas in certain areas with Oath Keepers why I can't/won't join now.

More in line with what I may join though is VCDL - It's a group that helps my home state in legislations and I feel has a more powerful voice and force than say Oath Keepers.
