gun shipping laws

Post by marlinbird »

Can anybody tell me if there are any Virgina carriers that will accept a long gun to ship from a individual to a FFL holder? No one in my area seems to be able to, or willing to accept a long gun. My FFL wants $30+ shipping each time I sell a gun.

Thanks,
Charles

Howdy, Charles,

Didja check with UPS? I have used them in the past, though it has been some years ago. If the info on their web site is accurate, they still do:

You can ship a long gun through USPS, cheaper than UPS. If you decide to use UPS it has to be shipped from a hub not a package store. Iv'e found it's easier to deal with the local post office than the jerk at our UPS hub. But do not try to ship a handgun through USPS, you have to be a dealer to do that.
