I'll be there waiting for the doors to open promptly at 3:00pm, ready to trample anyone that gets in the way of me fulfilling my High and Holy Quest, which is acquiring M&P Shields in .40 SW for me and the wife for under $430. Also looking for some deals on 5.45x39 and other ammo, but if the last show is any indication of what's considered a "deal", I'm really not holding my breath.

Hoka hey!

Got 2 tins of 5.45x39 spammo for $320 plus $32 tax, comes out to a skosh over 16 cents per round. Not bad but not great. Found some little things I'd been wanting for the AK, so over all it was a productive afternoon. Didn't get any Shields, there were none to be had. Maybe next time.

If you wait for a year or so, there will be M&P Shields all over the place. when the next hot buy comes out.

Thanks for the report. Glad you have an enjoyable afternoon!

I also got in the door just after 3 and was able to score the last XDs. Cannot wait to get this little sucker to the range so I can start carrying it. Pictures to follow.

Yeah - I don't know why we're so hot on the Shields, it's not like there aren't other options out there, and I've already got my LC9. My wife really wants one though, so we wait.

It was fun, we spent hours there, spent money too. I complain about the shows sometimes, but you know how it is - a mediocre day at a gun show will always beat a good day at the office!

Parking was difficult to find but on the whole I had a good time. I picked up a Smith & Wesson Pre-18 at a very attractive price and got to hear George Allen speak for a bit too. All in all, not bad.

I'm just glad I don't collect Lugers.

Is it worth the 2-hour drive? If not, we'll go cruise the BRP instead.

It really depends on what you're buying and how well you've researched the prices. You can find pretty good deals on firearms if you know what they're going for at the local stores and online, and have decided what your price point is. As for other items, it pays to know what you can expect to pay online where tax and shipping may or may not be charged, and what you're willing to pay at the show where tax will most likely be charged.

I got a good deal on corrosive Russian spammo, got some spare stainless steel magazines for my Colt .45 at $11 each, did okay buying a quick-release UTG side rail for my AK at $5 less than it was going for online, got a tactical foregrip for exactly what it was selling for online, and I spent too much money on a sling "system" that my wife and I thought was really cool at the show but which I've now decided I absolutely detest. My son found deals on several knives he liked, and my wife bought some things she had been looking at online.

As ever, your mileage may vary.

We ended up going to the state fair. It was ok, not as many agricultural/animal events as I'd have liked. But it was a great day to be outdoors.
