Apparently, the left REALLY wants people not to see the movie. On Saturday, tweets began appearing stating that the movie would be aired on Fox. This is patently false. It will however be available on some pay per view systems on Oct 12 (competing with Atals Shrugged Part II), and on DVD on October 16th.
The article goes on to say that internet piracy has eroded the box office take. Please, spread the word, but do it honestly.

You know you're over the target if you're taking flack.

Sounds like a non-story to me. People that want to see the movie have either already seen it or will see it. People that don't want to see the movie won't see it.
The real victims are those that did avoid paying for tickets and instead were looking forward to watching it on Fox News, only to be subjected to an hour of Sean Hannity.
As far as the piracy is concerned, seems like you can get any video or audio on the Internet somehow so I'm not surprised this is out there (doesn't mean it's right). I think this is the first time I've ever heard of copyright infringement being blamed on Obama supporters. Maybe the online pirates are part of the 47% that are already getting government handouts and they think free documentaries are also part of the entitlement. Now it's starting to make sense!

Shotgun, I don't think the piracy charges were being levelled at Obama supporters. I don't think they're smart enough to attempt to wage economic warfare on Lions Gate Studios or D'Souza. I think that there may have been some well meaning O-ponents that may have been overzealous in trying to get the word out about Barry the dog eating anti-colonial socialist. Unfortunately, documentaries don't get nearly the box office income that big entertainment movies do, so every penny counts.

Then the whole article is clear as mud. Starting with the title:SpanishInquisition wrote:Shotgun, I don't think the piracy charges were being levelled at Obama supporters.
So what is hurting the movie?Makers of ’2016: Obama’s America’ Say Piracy & Disinformation Is Attack By Obama Supporters
Code: Select all
online piracy
a disinformation attack by Obama supportersCode: Select all
online piracy and a disinformation attack by Obama supportersAnd continues to muddy the waters at bit further down. If your take on it is correct that they're not linking online piracy with Obama supporters, the bolded section helps show that by inserting a comma between "piracy" and "and".
But continues to muddy the waters in the very next sentence. Now, the people behind the film are saying that two factors are causing the theater draws to dwindle: online piracy, and a disinformation attack that alleged Fox News would be showing the film. The filmmakers are also claiming that this attack has been coordinated by supporters of Barack Obama.
So was online piracy the first wave of attack in a two-part attack coordinated by supporters of Barack Obama? It must be because just two paragraphs down they say it is.Online piracy was the first wave of attack. After a pirated version of the movie found its way onto YouTube, Randy Slaughter, president of the film’s distributor, Rocky Mountain Pictures, said “Starting Saturday morning, I started getting e-mails from groups and individuals either warning me about the piracy of 2016: Obama’s America or thanking me for allowing the movie to go online.”
The second wave of attack was the disinformation campaign, which stirred rumors that Fox News would be airing the film on its network.
Re: Disinformation attack against on "2016: Obama's America"
I think the real news here is, theres really going to be an Atlas Shrugged 2?!?!
The first one bombed harder than a Middle east protest.
I had to read that POS in college and for someone who really loves to read for the sake of reading to find a book utter torture says volumes. The fact someone made a movie was mind-blowing...the fact it sold like no tickets was not so surprising.
The fact that book took what felt like 18,000 pages to essentially say "poor people are parasites, worship yourself, oh, and religion is a scam" showed me how bad authors try to hide their ineptitude in a sea of words hoping no one will notice.

I liked the first Atlas Shrugged movie. I'd see the second one.
