Recreational shooting on private land in Fauqiuer County

Post by MattH »

Just like the title says, I would like to know if anyone has information on private land laws for discharging firearms. Acreage limit, so many yards from another houses etc... I recently put a contract on a house in this county and I am wondering what the current laws are if anyone knows. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm in fauquier, what I've been told by sheriff, and zoning is...

You must keep noise at the property line below the limits for your zoning, and you must ensure that no projectiles leave your property.

The only thing I could find is that you can't hunt within 100 yds of a road.

Well, change of plans. The contract for the house in Fauquier went sour but I've got a new, more hopeful contract in Culpeper. Anyone have info on that? I called the county but they just told me as long as I'm 100 yards away from the street and other dwellings. They've got to have some kind of acreage limit. Just trying to stay in the clear. Thanks again.

Well its hunting season, so you got a hunting season answer. The 100 yards is a hunting limit.

I've not checked in a few years, but last I knew they were the same as Fauquier. Control your projectiles, and don't exceed sound limits.
