Beach man robbed during gun sale in Newport News

Post by OakRidgeStars »

Take note of where the buyer and seller had agreed to meet. Does anyone else see a problem here, besides the obvious problem of what was allegedly a premeditated robbery?
The 23-year-old man planned to sell a .45-caliber gun to the buyer in the parking lot of Magruder Elementary School at 1712 Chestnut Ave.

I was stationed in Norfolk and for a period of about 6 months, my sub was in drydock at Newport News Shipbuilding. There are parts of Newport News that are ... decent ... but most is not. I would've been skeptical of the deal from the start.

Yeah, Newport News? Lived there a long while. I'd only agree to meet in the mall or at a Starbucks.

So many things wrong with this.

If you take risk and are not smart about your surroundings well...

I am sorry for him he got robbed. However, he was not smart, and why the hell at an empty school. :bangin:

My two cents.

well the big warning sign of course is the fact it is illegal n Virginia to have a handgun on school grounds (except inside your car for a valid permit holder)
so I am not so sure I am unhappy this guy didn't get the gun -sounds like he might of been akin to the guy who shot himself at hooters in the long run.

Another reason to be wary of selling firearms to random people you dont know...not counting the obvious mistakes he made.

Please re-read §18.2-308.1 and pay special attention to exception "vi" below subsection "C".

Yeah. Those words came to mind, but I feel that those two words aren't quite accurate enough. It still paints the situation to be more positive than what it actually is.

It kinda reminds me of my ex-girlfriends younger brother. When he was arrested for stealing from a high security storefront, released on bail, then re-arrested for stealing from another high security storefront an hour later, I didn't know what to say to him, either. So I just shook my head at him, then smacked him upside the head. Really hard. In front of his mother.
