muzzle-brake on a Marlin .22 question

I want to put a barrel shroud or Muzzle-brake on my Marlin .22 rifle.
I am looking at doing this for looks more than anything else so I don't want to spend a lot of money on it.

Do I need to get the barrel tapped or do clamp on ones look good or hold on ok?
For safety I think the threading would be a must but I got a quote for 100.00 to thread the barrel tip

Any ideas, options ?

Why do you want a muzzle-brake on a .22lr? They're usually reserved for reducing recoil on larger calibers or on comp guns. Answering that will at least other answer your questions about what brake to look at.

a friend has one on his Ruger 10/22 and it looks good, I am not looking for any function just something
that adds to the look I am going after.

this picture the muzzle-brake is a bit too large, looking for somthing smaller.
