Need to see pics or more evidence before I'll believe it, but this is the fruit of foreign interventionalism. And ole Mubarak was our ally for decades, if thats how we treat our friends, well, no wonder they're in increasingly short supply.

Its Saddam all over again, you take out a perfectly sane, ruthless, secular despot and replace him with an insane, ruthless, jihadist one.

Agreed with Kreutz.

Impossible. This is the "religion of peace", remember?

I'm sure the blood-drinking Israelis fabricated these stories.

All religions are those of peace, doesn't mean the people are. Those people are freaking nuts!

Can anyone see they're trying to pick a fight?

I've called Egypt my second home for many years, having just left back in January when I moved here to VA. I'm a bit curious about the validity of this story there is and could well be some truth to it, I'll try to track down some photographs and call back to see if this stuff is really happening. If it is I'll post a followup.

I'm a bit skeptical due to the location of the presidential palace. It's right by the main road not far from the airport in a area called Heliopolis, and anything like this that would be happening would be documented pretty blatantly (photograph/video) just due to the location of the palace not to mention the 5 star hotel a stones throw down the street. It does break my heart to see the place sliding, which looks less and less like the place I called my home.

Could it possibly be that the much heralded "Arab Spring" is not as good a thing as our beloved President said it would be? So when we aid countries by helping their dictators be deposed through aid (in one form or the other) to "rebels," whom we know absolutely nothing about, this is the result? Wow, I'm shocked.

I knew no good would come of the Muslim Brotherhood, the rebels (Al Qaeda & Taliban), or our involvement.

UPDATE

I just got off the phone with one of my friends back in Cairo. He doesn't know much about the papers getting shutdown but the crucifixions piece is utter bullshit. It goes without saying but don't believe everything you read.

I'm of the opinion that we ought have just as much business in supporting these regimes as much as we do with those that try to overthrow them. In other words zero. But this is the modern age where everyone casts in their lot with one group or the other. It's just the way things work. The people of Egypt choose the MB or the Ikhwan as their representatives. It is their choice and they will reap whatever they sow. Did the Arab Spring allow the MB to come into power? Yes, but it also allowed for the people of Egypt to choose their own government, and they did. I believe that is and will be regarded as a positive thing whether it is positive for the US or not. If it doesn't align with our foreign policy well I guess that just sucks for us. The largest take away is that they overthrew their government, more or less Mubarak's National Democratic Party and instituted a new government. Ideally it would have been nice to see someone like Mohammad El-Baradei take over but, they had the chance to choose and this is what they decided on. The Egyptians will decide what happens to Egypt.

Google the tunisia behedding.

And read the Koran.
There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, in the end, 'Thy will be done.'

Good point. The US isn't going to like every government, but that's our problem and not their's. The Egyptian people chose their government and they'll have to live with those choices. The US has shown that we can work with other governments even if their views don't line up with ours (China), so maybe we'll be able to find some common ground here as well.

Moral relativism fail

Illustrative joke time!

Four individuals approach a four way intersection at the same time from different directions. The drivers are: the Easter Bunny, Santy Claus, a moderate muzzie and a muzzie "extremist."

Who has the right of way?

Answer:
The muzzie extremist, because all the rest are imaginary creatures!

You call yourself a moderate muslim all you want, but if you don't follow the NON NEGOTIABLE teachings of the Koran and the Suras, then a muslim you are NOT.

I just wanted to clear up the whole "people getting crucified in front of the presidential palace" thing. Otherwise Egypt and Islam never gave me any issues, I actually really enjoyed it out there and would go back tomorrow if I could find some work.
